The Alabama State Banking Department mandates all debt collectors be licensed to operate in the state.

Maintaining Licensing

In order to maintain ongoing licensing, companies must follow state regulations and rules and provide certain reports and records on a regular basis. It is important to maintain great record keeping practices to ensure no questions about compliance arise. Licenses expire 9/30 annually. Renewels must be submitted by 10/31. There are also annual fees that must be paid.
